Today at Greater Than Rubies we’re participating in the April Redress Challenge, which is Repair. I’m going to share with you one of the best refashions I’ve ever done. 🙂
I don’t like to walk around barefoot. If I’m standing up, I’m wearing shoes. During the winter I wear moccasin style slippers around the house. In the summer I live in flip-flops. The summer of 2012 I wore this pair until they fell apart:
I know, I know, you’re wondering how I refashioned a pair of flip-flops. Well, I didn’t – I reused that cunning little anchor charm. With some needle nosed pliers, and a jump ring from the craft store, I “made” a lovely anchor pendant.
I’m linking up!
Brilliant! I truly am in awe of your incredible knack with interpreting style challenges. Once again, I was thinking too literally and opting out of this one because I don’t sew. But accessories? You’ve given me something to ponder now. Kudos!

Thanks!
I can sew a button back on, but that’s about it. Most of my “repairs” involve turning my kids’ too short jeans into cut offs. 😛

This is AWESOME! I don’t know if I would have thought to take the cute little flip flop charm and do something with it. Not to mention that your new pendant is perfect for the nautical trend these days!

Thanks, Whitney! Most of my necklaces are hobby store charms that I switch out on a simple chain. I had been looking for an anchor charm when I remembered these old flip-flops. Voila, free necklace!
I love the nautical trend for Spring and Summer, so, yes, this is perfect!

Great idea! I like re-purposing things when it comes to jewelry too, but I’ve never used anything from a shoe before!.

Thanks! Any embellishment is fair game for jewelry making! 🙂

What a cute sporty outfit. Just my style. Now aren’t you clever. I would have just tossed the old flip flops in the recycle bin and felt sad about it. BTW love the Jane Austen quiz. I’m Elinor Dashwood darn it!

Thanks, Connie! That sweatshirt dress is one of my favorite pieces. 🙂 I’m glad you liked the quiz – I thought it was fun! I LOVE Elinor Dashwood! I actually would’ve preferred to be her, or Anne Elliot. I’m just too headstrong. 😦

Nice repurposing! I love it when I can use something one more way instead of throwing it out. ~Ann
