Remix Rewear Restyle is a weekly link up hosted by Caitlin @ Greater Than Rubies. Today we are encouraged to make a regular tee look amazing. I’m not sure if I’ve achieved amazing, but I at least managed cute. 😉
Once per month I help out with children’s church, and I have to wear a t-shirt that designates me as a leader. Apart from the lovely purple color, this tee has very little going for it. The high neck and boxy cut are less than flattering, and every other adult in the room is wearing the same thing. What’s a fashionista girl to do?
For starters, I add a focal point to the shirt, like this long, sparkly necklace. Next, I try to inject some fun into my ensemble (I am working with kids, after all). Distressed denim, Argyle socks, and Chucks add a little pizazz to the ensemble on the left. On the right, I went with a bright color combo and metallic sandals.
I’m linking up:
Happy Monday, Selah! I like both ways you styled that tee. Yes, I agree those boxy tees are hard to work with but I really do like what you’ve done to take it up a notch and make it your own. 🙂

Thanks, Carrie! I’ve been considering modifying the tee somehow (Pinterest has lots of great ideas), but, since I didn’t pay for it, I feel weird cutting it. 😜

I’m surprised the knotting connoiseur didn’t attempt some sort of knot with this tee. 😜 Or has it got not enough fabric to knot? Regardless, I love the pop of color with the orange skirt.

Knotting didn’t work with these particular looks (because of the layering on the left, and I prefer a longer top with the coral skirt). Plus, I’ve got to save some ideas for the next time I have wear this tee. 😉

This is a great post. I’m a high school teacher and, in order to encourage our students to go to college, we are required to wear college apparel on Fridays (or school spirit t-shirts). Since I do this every.single.Friday I get so bored of the typical jeans and t-shirt combo. I’ve done a couple of posts on how to dress-up spirit wear and I’m going to add your tips to my arsenal!

Awesome, thanks! I’ll have to check out your posts for more ideas. 🙂 Thankfully, I only have to do this once per month. 😉

Thanks! I forget – did you ever have to wear this tee when you were working at GSUMC? If so, I’d love any styling tips you’ve got! 😀

I like the necklace with this shirt! Sometimes when I wear shirts like this, I roll the sleeves twice, so they have more of a cap sleeve look. Somehow showing a little more arm can help balance out the proportions a little. Also, maybe trying half-tucking would be a good idea for the future!

Thanks! Rolling the sleeves & tucking / half tucking are on the list of things to try. 🙂
