The Book Blogger Test

Stefani @ Caught Read Handed tagged me with the Book Blogger’s Test. Fun!

What are your top three book pet hates?

1. Poor editing.
2. Condensed books for children. I have no problem with re-tellings that make great literature more accessible for children (Tales from Shakespeare, for example), but just condensing a book? No thanks!
3. Sex scenes.

Describe your perfect reading spot.

My library. πŸ˜€

Tell us three book confessions.

1. I have no problem DNF-ing books. There are too many great books out there, I’m not going to waste my time on a bad one.
2. I usually read 4-5 books at a time. Something long / heavy, something short / light, plus various books with my children.
3. It drives me crazy when people say classics are boring or difficult! Some classic books ARE, for sure, but most of them are wonderful! That’s why they’re classic!

When was the last time you cried during a book?

I tear up easily, but true crying? The Hunger Games.

How many books are on your bedside table?

None at the moment. I carry whatever I’m reading around the house with me, so Midnight in Austenland will be there tonight. πŸ˜‰

What is your favorite snack to eat while you’re reading?

I read during meals. That’s probably why I’m such a careful, non-messy eater.

Name three books you would recommend to everyone.

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
3. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

Show us a picture of your favorite shelf on your bookcase.

Write how much books mean to you in three words.

What is your biggest reading secret?

I do not espouse the “all reading is good” idea. See my confessions above.

You are an evil wench, but I was gonna do this anyway! Saw the convo you had with Stefani and was gonna steal the questions for a Thursday post. Mwahahahaha! Great minds!

Also, please explain DNF (not in my blogging lingo, being a style blogger and all ;D) and Amy and Rory. Love the quote but did you mean that’s what books are like for you? Or something else entirely?

Thanks Lark! There’s a gap on the shelf because I’m reading Mockingjay aloud to my husband. πŸ˜€
Bad editing is the worst. I was reading a Mary Higgins Clark book recently where she mixed up some minor characters’ names. Argh.
Choosing books for everyone is tough! I’m glad you like my choices. πŸ™‚

I just visited your post about your library! I LOVE it! I live in an apartment right now so I don’t have room for a library…but someday I will! I know I’m not a book blogger but I really enjoyed this post so I might do one for myself πŸ™‚ Maybe I’ll do it in conjunction with T3 so at least part of my post is fashiony.

Thanks! You know, I never even put “library” on my house hunting wishlist, because it just seemed impossible. I mean the list was already SO long! Thankfully, my husband knows me really well and likes to make me happy. πŸ™‚
I’d love to hear your answers to the questions! Fashiony – LOL!

I just read your post after doing my own Book Blogger’s Test! I was also tagged by Stefani. I just wanted to say it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who reads multiple books at one time πŸ˜€

I’m extremely jealous of your Harry Potter collection πŸ˜€ I own all of the books, but some are hardcover, some paperback… le sigh.

Great answers! I, too, was tagged by Stefani ^.^ She’s awesome!
