Last week’s T3 post got me thinking about my favorite literary friendships and so a Top Five Tuesday post was born!
Bartholomew & Nelly from A Special Trade by Sally Whitman. This intergenerational friendship is as sweet as they come.
Frog & Toad from the Frog and Toad series by Arnold Lobel. These friends are always there for each other.
Anne Shirley & Diana Barry from the Anne of Green Gables series by L. M. Montgomery. Kindred Spirits!
Lissar & Ash from Deerskin by Robin McKinley. I’m not an animal person but the bond between Lissar and her dog Ash is ah-mazing.
Stephanie & Lula from the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Their antics crack me up. No picture for them because the only ones I can find are from the wretched film. No, just no.
If we were going animal/human friendships, hands’ down I’d nominate the Dragonriders of Pern and their psychic bond with dragons or the Heralds of Valdemar and their companions. For the longest time, I dreamed of having that kind of unconditional connection with another living thing.

I haven’t read either series (don’t throw things at me). More for the TBR, right?

LOL! I’m an English teacher – we’re supposed to throw things at you! Pern is an investment in time but you can do Valdemar in short chunks. She writes them in trilogies and I bet your kiddos would love them as read alouds.

You THROW things at your students when they don’t read?!? 😛
