Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read list. I’ve decided that seasonal lists don’t work for me, mainly because Winter spans two calendar years, so I’m doing my 4th Quarter TBR. 😉
My primary reading goal for the 4th Quarter is to “read my shelves”. I own these ten books, but I’ve never read them:
- The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine
- The Pigeon Pie Mystery by Julia Stuart
- The Kill Order by James Dashner
- The Radleys by Matt Haig
- The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey
- Romancing Miss Bronte Juliet Gael
- The Help Kathryn Stockett
- Jake Ransom and the Skull King’s Shadow James Rollins
- The Dark Hills Divide Patrick Carman
- The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
Happy to see The Kill Order and The Radleys, of course.
Also, I just finished The Help audiobook and OH GOSH, that book is GOOD. I honestly didn’t want it to be over. I could’ve just gotten in my car every day and listened to more stories about all of the people in that book.

I thought you’d like those. 😀
I bought a beat up copy of The Help from the library AGES ago for $0.25 and I’ve never gotten around to reading it. I hope I enjoy it as much as you did. 🙂

I think I particularly enjoyed it because I live in MS, just outside of Jackson, so I could totally relate to a lot of the content. I also knew where a lot of the places were that she was describing so that was cool.
That book is sometimes hard to get through, but it is very well written – with a lot of care. Hope you enjoy!

Okay, now I have to tell you a cute kid story. When my daughter was 3, she asked me, out of the blue, “Mama, who’s Jackson Mississippi?”

Awwww. Haha. That’s adorable!

Ha! I hate when I do that – go to my magical bookstore and load up on ARCs because they’re only a buck then have them on my shelves unread. More power to ya on this TBR!
I listened to The Help as well and, similarly to The Secret Life of Bees, I must say there’s something lyric about a Southern accent that gets me through books I don’t normally read because they’re not my genre.
Speaking of my genre, Mercedes Lackey used to be one of my faves because of her Valdemar series but the Princesses series does leave me a bit bereft. Oddly, like meringue, it also left me wanting more. So, be prepared for an insubstantial but addicting read.

Yep, between clearance racks and library book sales, I’ve got a bunch of cheap books that I’ve never read (at least they were cheap, right?).
Haha, I’m immune to the charm of a Southern accent. It’s good to know you like them though. That way, if we ever get a chance to talk, I won’t be worried that you’ll think I sound like a hick. 😛
That particular book purchase is your fault! 😉 You had just mentioned Mercedes Lackey to me, and then I found that book for $0.25.

Wah! Well, I’ve warned you about Ms. Lackey. Don’t hold her against me; she does have other, better works, most of them YA works.

I just finished reading The Help last week and it is great! You won’t regret reading it. 🙂

Oh good! That’s 2 positive comments for The Help. 🙂

I really want to read The Radleys — though I’ve got The Humans on my list. I hear great things about Matt Haig.

I read The Humans not too long ago, because my friend Stefani raved about it (it’s #10 on this list, but she talks about it a LOT 🙂 ):
I really liked The Humans, although I think I might’ve loved it if I’d been able to read it in my early 20s.
I’m looking forward to The Radleys – I like a good vampire book every now and then. Perfect for Halloween!

The Help is wonderful–MUCH better than the movie!

Isn’t that (almost) always the case? I never saw the movie, but I’m glad to get so many positive comments about the book. 🙂

I’ll be interested to see what you think about Romancing Miss Bronte as I’ve vaguely heard about it and am on the fence about reading it. I think The Two Princesses of Bamarre may be on my short term reading list as well. It’s been sitting forlornly on my e-reader for much too long.

Romancing Miss Bronte is a bargain purchase that I need to get around to. I thought it would make a good companion to Jane Eyre, which I’m also reading (again) this fall.
I ❤ Gail Carson Levine.

I had that same idea to ‘read off my shelf’ this fall.
