WEARING
Whitney wore a striped dress and ankle boots last week for Blogging Besties, making it super easy for me to participate. 😀 I cinched my dress with a colorful belt (TARDIS blue!).

LOVING
Sweet Potato lost her first tooth! Every milestone is bittersweet for me, because I’m enjoying seeing her grow up, but it’s the last time I’ll experience that milestone as a mom. Also bittersweet was Pumpkin Pie inquiring if the tooth Fairy is really just me? This does not bode well for Christmas! I explained that the Tooth Fairy only puts money under your pillow if you believe in her. 😉
The Cardboard Box Office – SO cute!

My faves this week are all the outfits where you wear that purple up top and complement it with the pop of color purple in your Chucks. Totes adorbs! (<— say in James Earl Jones' voice, please. There's nothing quite as knee-slapping as Darth Vader speaking in netspeak.)
So how was Clariel?!!
Aly told me that she really didn't believe in Santa but that she was keeping the pretense up because Dyl still believed. Awwww, right?

Totes Magotes! <– (said like Malcom McDowell, because those commercials are the best!).
Clariel was very good, but also sad. I'm still processing. Clariel herself IS a character from the other books, although not the one I thought she'd be. There's also another familiar character that I was pleased to see. Overall, a solid entry in the series, and I don't think you need to re-read the other books first. According to the author's note, Nix is writing another book that will pick up the story of Lirael and Nicholas Sayre after The Creature in the Case novella (which I loved – it was Old Kingdom meets Agatha Christie).
Aww! I know my son is at the age to stop believing in Santa, but it's still sad. 😦 I also know he will keep up the pretense for his little sister. My parents never did the whole Santa thing, and I still totally believed in him until I was at least 12. It was my childhood rebellion. 😛

So I can totally buy Clariel and read it as a standalone before I reread the trilogy? Is the novella complete in the Across the Wall anthology? I may have to purchase both books now.
Totes Magotes indeed! 😀

Yes, you can read Clariel before re-reading the trilogy. The novella is complete in Across the Wall, but you’ll want to re-read the trilogy before the novella (or at least read the plot summary on Wikipedia 😉 ). I was going to recommend Across the Wall to you anyway, because Nix talks about his writing process before each story. It’s cool!

Thanks! It’s just an Old Navy Oxford, but I don’t know if they still carry this color. I forgot that I had this belt, and I was excited to see it again!

I really like the outfits where you use the purple button-up as a cardi. you’ve gotten a lot of good use out of that top!

Thanks Amy! It’s been too warm for my cardigans most days, but often too cool for just a tee. So, the button down shirts have been my go-to pieces. 🙂

Ohhh, good answer for the tooth fairy question 🙂 And I’m loving ALL of your looks this week! I think my favorites are our matching outfit :), the purple top layered under your sweatshirt dress, and of course the Beauty and the Beast outfit!

Thanks 🙂 I wish the shirt under the dress had been more comfortable – I kept having to adjust the shirt. Maybe there’s a trick to it?
