A Bibliophile’s Restyle: Geek Out (2) Rose Tyler

It’s been a while since I Geeked Out but I want to make it a monthly feature. My family is in the throes of a Doctor Who marathon so I’m going to do some closet Cosplay of the various companions.

Today’s look is inspired by Rose Tyler:

Rose Tyler

The basic elements of her style are half-zipped hoodie, graphic tee, flared jeans, sneakers, and copious amounts of eyeliner and mascara (also bleached hair, but I’m not going that far!).

I chose my Marilyn tee because it just seems like something Rose would like. My lip gloss is Burt’s Bees Rose (I told you I’m a geek 😉 ).

Obviously, this is getting linked up with Maricel @ My Closet Catalogue for TARDIS Tuesday!

Ah, Rose! I do have a love/hate relationship with this girl! On one hand, her spunky-ness is so charming and captivating. On the other hand, why fall in love with the Doctor so fully and painfully? Bleh. I guess I’m just too old for sentimentality. Cosplaying her, however, seems like such an easy task, especially how you broke it down; I wonder why I’ve not thought of her for TARDIS Tuesday yet. Thanks for the idea! 🙂

I love this SO much!! Well, I have a little tiny bit of a thing for Doctor Who. Eavesdropping on your conversation with Maricel above, Rose is my favorite companion of the New Who era. I think maybe because she was my first and I got to know the Doctor through her? Her immaturity shines through in both the best and worst ways possible and I adored her chemistry with both 9 and 10. Somewhere deep in my blog there is a very long post where I go on ad nauseam analyzing the different companions and the Doctor because I love that stuff and I think that’s what pushes the show into being amazing instead of just great. Also, my personal style is definitely closest to Rose all the way:) minus the copious eyeliner:0).

Thanks to both of you – I am so proud of my obsessive TV watching;). I still haven’t gotten as into seasons five onward (though season 6 was pretty spectacular) – maybe I’m just an RTD fan? shrugs

NOOOOO! You must come over to the Moffat side. Stat! 11 does take some getting used to, especially after the awesomeness that is 10, but I swear Moffat’s Companions and plot lines are far more dense and intricate and provocative than RTD’s.

I agree with you – 12 is taking quite some time to find his bearings. D’you think we’ll lose Moffat and keep Capaldi? Or do you think those two will eventually find their sea legs together? And yes to the Tigger comment. ;p

I know I replied on here earlier today but it seems to have disppeared…. If you find a nonsensical comment from me on another post Selah well than…just ignore it. The gist was – I know you are right about Moffat but I can’t help it. The heart wants what the heart wants, lol! Apparently my heart wants goofy, sentimental ridiculousness:0). Season 6 arguably has the best collection of non-stop awesome episodes so I definitely see Moffat’s awesomeness but season 5 did a number on me. I’ve watched it twice and just didn’t like it. I agree with you Selah that I like Rory and Rory and Amy together but did not like Amy alone. It also took me a bit to warm up to 11, adorable tiggerness or not. Haven’t caught any Capaldi episodes yet…
