TTT: Quotes

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books. I’ve featured most of these in my Wordsmitten Wednesday posts.

  1. Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet? ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

  2. That’s what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you to another book, and another bit there will lead you onto a third book. It’s geometrically progressive – all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment.
― Mary Ann Shaffer, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

  3. “It’s come at last”, she thought, “the time when you can no longer stand between your children and heartache.”
― Betty Smith, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

  4. So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.
    ― Roald Dahl, Matilda

  5. It is so good to have friends who understand how there is a time for crying and a time for laughing, and that sometimes the two are very close together.
― Lois Lowry, A Summer to Die

  6. He did not like the grown-ups who talked down to him, but the ones who went on talking in their usual way, leaving him to leap along in their wake, jumping at meanings, guessing, clutching at known words, and chuckling at complicated jokes as they suddenly dawned. He had the glee of the porpoise then, pouring and leaping through strange seas.
    – T. H. White, The Sword in the Stone

  7. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.
    ― Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

  8. You cannot wait for an untroubled world to have an untroubled moment.
― Lemony Snicket, Shouldn’t You Be in School?

  9. Hatun sees a different world than you or I, a far more frightening one, full of far more terrible dangers, and still she chooses to be the hero whom that world needs. She has saved this town and its people from countless monsters countless times. That the battles are usually in her head does not lessen the bravery of it. The hardest battles always are.
    ― William Ritter, Jackaby

  10. Fear can’t hurt you . . . When it washes over you, give it no power. It’s a snake with no venom.
    – Maureen Johnson, The Name of the Star

I knew your list would be extra awesome since you feature quotes regularly! Love the Matilda quote for its reverence of books. Love the Anne of Green Gables quote because it inspires optimism! And of course I LOVE that quote from Jackaby though I used a different one. It’s a list that makes me feel serene and happy:0)!
