My lovely friend Dagny @ Vauquer Boarding House brought this challenge to my attention last year. I enjoyed participating, so I’ve decided to sign up again! The challenge runs June 1 – September 5, and is hosted by Cathy @ 746 Books. Like Cathy, I’m going to stick with books that I actually own (I have so many that I want to read or re-read!):
- Persuasion by Jane Austen
- Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine
- A Truth Universally Acknowledged: 33 Great Writers on Why We Read Jane Austen by Susannah Carson
- Taken at the Flood by Agatha Christie
- Mrs. McGinty’s Dead by Agatha Christie
- After the Funeral by Agatha Christie
- Hickory Dickory Dock by Agatha Christie
- Dead Man’s Folly by Agatha Christie
- Cat Among the Pigeons by Agatha Christie
- Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins
- Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane by Suzanne Collins
- Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods by Suzanne Collins
- Gregor and the Marks of Secret by Suzanne Collins
- Gregor and the Code of Claw by Suzanne Collins
- The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson
- The Story Girl by L. M. Montgomery
- The Rook by Daniel O’Malley
- Stiletto by Daniel O’Malley
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling
- The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
Great choices! Love all the Agatha Christie’s – enjoy! Thanks for joining in again this year x

I’m trying to read ALL of AC, starting with all the Poirot novels and short stories, in order of publication. I got a bunch of paperback copies for Mother’s Day. 😀

Oh this challenge sounds awesome! And also a good way to push myself to read more, especially all of the the ebooks I need to review. Totally signing up! 🙂

I love the focused nature of the challenge, as well as the pretty lax rules. 😉

Lax rules are always my friend. I’m looking forward to it because I usually don’t read that many books in the time period.

What a fun challenge! I really need to do this with the books I own!

I’m so bad about neglecting my own books for library books, or buying a bunch of “new” (used) books instead of reading what I already have.

Glad you’re in, Selah! I’m anxiously awaiting Paper and Fire. Didn’t put it on my list though in case my library doesn’t get it immediately. Meanwhile, I’m slogging through The Golem and the Jinni. It’s not at all what I was expecting. It has enough good parts to hold my interest and my mind just wanders during the parts which don’t.

The Golem and the Jinni suffers from over-research, I think. Wecker researched her topic / time period so exhaustively that she then felt the need to put ALL of her research into the text. Still, it was a Mother’s Day gift (last year) and I’ve heard so many great things, so I’m going to give it another shot.

Great choices for summer reading — a mix of light and not-so-light. Christie I can read anytime, anywhere. One of these days, I’ll get around to The Golem and the Jinni, too.

Christie just makes me happy, especially Poirot. Having just finished The Golem and the Jinni, my reaction is don’t bother. Maybe it was all the hype, but I was underwhelmed.
