I loved The Rook by O’Malley. Jackaby sounds really good too. I’ve heard several things about that series but haven’t gotten to read it yet. Great blog too!

Jackaby is a fun series, although definitely geared for teens. Jackaby himself reminds quite a bit of Matt Smith as the Doctor.
Rivers of London has a similar feel to The Rook (Daniel O’Malley even recommends it in the back of The Rook). I’d highly recommend the series, especially in audiobook format! The narrator, Kobna Holbrook-Smith, is perfect.

I had a friend just text me the other day about The Rook! I’d never heard of it previously, and now it’s on your list. I think that can’t be a coincidence!

Those are three of my very favorite ongoing series so I’m so glad they worked for you too! Also, you know I share your love for Jackaby as well though I don’t remember where I heard about it. Sheesh, my memory….

Haha, I was actually thinking you had recommended Jackaby to me, but I have a record on Goodreads of Maricel’s recommendation.

Oh I love the Hamish Macbeth books – they’re kind of like literary cotton candy – there really isn’t much substance to them, but they’re so sweet and enjoyable and they just make you happy. 🙂
