Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (audiobook / library)
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I originally chose this audiobook because I needed a funny book to get over the paranoia inducing The Circle by Dave Eggers. While there were several funny stories, most of the humor was not at all to my taste. I should’ve DNFd.
Ninjas and Samurai by Mary Pope Osborne (physical / library / with kids)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My anime obsessed littles loved this one!
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (audiobook / library)
My rating: 3-1/2 of 5 stars
This was a fun, SUPER geeky book. There were plenty of references I didn’t get, but between my age, my own nerdiness, and my husband’s nerdiness, I got a lot of them. I thought the ending was a bit too pat, and I call absolute bullsh*t on the idea of vending machines for guns.
Where Angels Fear to Tread by E.M. Forster (audiobook / library)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Forster’s first novel shares a similar setting and themes with A Room With a View. While there are some truly hilarious moments (“Harriet with a smut in her eye was notorious”), it was definitely less cheerful and hopeful overall. I’m looking forward to viewing the film (which shares several cast members with ARWAV).
