A Bibliophile’s Pile (30): And There You Have

Read

Pirate VishnuPirate Vishnu by Gigi Pandian (audiobook / library)
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

I still mostly love Jaya, and I found the mystery intriguing, but the romance made my eyes roll hard.

On Thin Icing (A Bakeshop Mystery, #3)On Thin Icing by Ellie Alexander (physical / library)
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So, the mystery was better in this one. Jules actually figured something out, instead of being randomly attacked / confessed to. However, I’m not loving the addition of Carlos. I don’t like him, and I hate the love triangle. 🙄

A Useful Woman (Rosalind Thorne Mysteries #1)A Useful Woman by Darcie Wilde (audiobook / library)
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This felt a bit like a Regency research paper. I appreciate historical detail, but it shouldn’t overwhelm the plot. Still, I enjoyed Rosalind and Harkness (who I pictured as John Barrowman – I couldn’t help it!), and it fits with my reading theme for the month. #austenaugust2017

The Jane Austen ProjectThe Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A. Flynn (physical / ebook / library)
My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

Damn it! It was SO GOOD, not perfect, but *really* good, and then it just crumbled to pieces in the last few chapters. DAMN IT!

Amelia Bedelia (Amelia Bedelia #1)Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish (audiobook / library / with kids / re-read)
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It’s just me and my daughter today, and she requested Amelia Bedelia audiobooks while we ate breakfast. I just shake my head at Amelia Bedelia’s antics, and my daughter declared them “old fashioned, but funny”.

Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise ShowerAmelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower by Peggy Parish (audiobook / library / with kids / re-read)
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When my son was 3, and just learning to take a shower, he asked me if I was going to shower his baby sister with lemonade. I couldn’t figure out what he was talking about at first, and then I remembered our shopping trip earlier in the week. I bought lemonade for a friend’s baby shower. 😂 Amelia Bedelia makes a similar mistake in this book, but since she’s a grown woman, it’s not quite as funny. 🙄
