Thoughtful Third Thursday: June 2014

It’s Thoughtful Third Thursday (T3) again! This is our first month with a theme: Favorite Childhood Read.

Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion is one of the first books I ever “read”. My mom read it to me so many times that I had it completely memorized!

Harry hated baths and loved to get dirty. One day he got especially dirty.

In fact, he changed from a white dog with black spots to a black dog with white spots.

When I first thought about this book, I pictured this Dorothy Perkins dress:

imageIsn’t it perfect? Of course, I don’t actually own this dress, or anything with black and white polka dots, so I’m substituting stripes!

2/23/14If you’ve never read this book, why not have Betty White read it to you?

All right, it’s your turn to link up:

Again, you astonish me with the very creative ways you shop your closet to interpret a very literal look. I also like how you give alternatives – that D.P. dress is super cute! Oh, you clever, clever girl! ;p

I promise I’m going to do mine! I just need to wait until someone comes home to take a picture of me. I don’t have a big enough mirror and my phone’s camera quality isn’t very good. Also, that Dorothy Perkins dress is ADORABLE! As is the skirt you’re wearing. 🙂

That’s a perfect interpretation of the book, and a very cool dress on its own! I never heard of dirty Harry (haha), but it reminds me of one of my first books – a Golden Book about Puff the Blue Kitten who gets covered in paint. I’d forgotten all about it, but I had that one pretty well memorized.

I love Harry The Dirty Dog! And I love your striped outfit even more than the polkadot dress! I am a huge book fan but I can’t ever seem to coordinate my dressing to anything in a book. I’m going to try harder though and either link up late, tomorrow, or aim for next month.

Thanks Shawna! I seriously considered using No Roses for Harry and wearing floral, but “Dirty Harry” is my favorite. 😉
The link up is open for a whole week, so you’ve got some time. Next month’s theme is Favorite Villain. I’m trying to decide between Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter or President Snow from The Hunger Games.

Okay I am super excited because No Roses for Harry was one of my fave books as a kid and I didn’t know there were other Harry books! I lived my entire childhood thinking it was a one off:) I love the skirt your wearing btw! But I would have liked to see an outfit inspired by the sweater in No Roses for Harry:)
