Friday Fashion Frenzy is a new feature, where I will link up with multiple style blogs.
Blogging Besties is the brain child of Alex @ Undergraduate Style and Whitney @ Whitney à la Mode. It’s based on the idea of “take one, pass it on,” but we’re passing on an element from another blogger’s outfit.
I passed on the leather accents from Alex’s look.
Gracey has brought back Literary Stylings for 2015! The idea is to get sartorially inspired by a book you read the previous month. My absolute favorite December read was Jane Austen Cover to Cover: 200 Years of Classic Covers by Margaret C. Sullivan.
In the spirit of the book, I took my inspiration from the blue and white grid pattern of the cover, and I added a silhouette necklace for good measure. 🙂
I loved the history lesson, including insider information on the publishing industry. By far, the best part of the book was Sullivan’s snarky commentary on the less than stellar covers included in the collection:
Pride and Prejudice, from 1994, features a swooping rococo title and a frizzy wreath of rosebushes, beneath which Darcy kisses Elizabeth’s hand (and then probably serenades her with a crooned rendition of “Purple Rain”). The tag line may be the best-ever bad summary of the novel’s plot . . .
Therefore, I’m also linking my Literary Stylings outfit up with Maricel @ My Closet Catalogue for TARDIS Tuesday.
Okay, so in the spirit of my own love/hate relationships with linkups, I gotta know – do you plan for them or do you dress willy-nilly then determine if any outfit works with various linkups?
I love, love, LOVE that cardi with leather accents! Is it new? It needs to be showcased more, my friend. Can’t wait to see how your remix it.
Pride and Prejudice from 1994 was a hoot! Who knew? I wonder if sales went up or down because of it? And what publisher’s brain child was it?
Thanks for the linkup shout out! ;p

I plan, as far in advance as possible.
The cardigan is new (Old Navy). I wanted a slightly dressier cardigan, and I really like the Chanel-esque details.
There were some other funny covers (like Harper Teen’s Twilight-esque covers for just a few years ago), but that one was the best!
Of course!

P.S. Friday Fashion Frenzy is not only alliterative – love! – but also extremely efficient. You have the best ideas! You’d make a good Roman. ;p

I LOVE your cardigan! The leather accents are fierce, but you’re right, it really does look like Chanel. Nice work, and I love the new feature!

Thanks Alex! I like that the cardigan is more structured and dressy than a typical cardigan, but the leather and zipper keep it from being too twee.

Absolutely gorgeous cardigan, Selah! The leather detailing and its texture are simply lovely.
Oh my goodness, what an odd and hilarious P&P cover! Too funny. Wonder what Elizabeth Bennett would have to say about it…
Happy Friday!
