Friday Fashion Frenzy (5)

Friday Fashion Frenzy is a feature where I link up with multiple style blogs.

BLOGGING BESTIES

Blogging Besties is the brain child of Alex @ Undergraduate Style and Whitney @ Whitney à la Mode. It’s based on the idea of “take one, pass it on,” but we’re passing on an element from another blogger’s outfit.

I passed on the lace from Alex’s look and kept the top in the same color family.

TARDIS TUESDAY

TARDIS Tuesday is a link up with Maricel @ My Closet Catalogue. It can include anything TARDIS blue or anything Whovian.

This week it’s all about the bow tie necklace, because:

If you can’t tell, this is part of the Blogging Besties outfit, pictured above.

LITERARY STYLINGS

Gracey has brought back Literary Stylings for 2015! The idea is to get sartorially inspired by a book you read the previous month. I read a TON of Cozies in January, several of which were set in the 1920s, including Gone West, A Daisy Dalrymple Mystery, by Carola Dunn.

image

The 1920s are a popular era for Cozies, probably because they were a time of huge social change. The world was opening up for many people, especially women. Daisy is an impoverished aristocrat who has created a career for herself writing travel articles. Of course, being that this is a Cozy series, she finds bodies everywhere she goes!

imageI went for a period look with a handkerchief hem, faux drop waist, vintage locket, pearls, cloche (from my daughter’s dress up box), and filtered photography.

If you enjoy Literary Stylings, please come back on 2/19/15 for Thoughtful Third Thursday!

I really love that inverted lace pleat detail; so unique and eye-catching!

YES! Bow ties are exquisitely cool! And you wear yours well. Around the neck and everything! ;p

Wot?! Wot?! A cloche? A handkerchief hem? The Roaring 20s? Be still my dressing-the-eras loving heart! I love this! And those pops of red? Brilliant!

😀 Thanks, Kezzie! I stumbled on this necklace at Nordstrom Rack a few years ago and just HAD to have it!
Have you read any of the Her Royal Spyness books by Rhys Bowen? They’re similar to Daisy Dalrymple.
I emailed the photo to Jess – thanks for the suggestion!
